  Armenia's Levon Aronian to face MVL for World Chess Cup semifinals September 19, 2017 - 10:33 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - For the semifinals of the World Chess Cup, (starting Tuesday, September 19), three top 10 players have remained: Maxime Vachier-Lagrave, Levon Aronian and Wesley So. The Armenian grandmaster and MVL face each other in the battle for one ticket to the 2018 Candidates'; the other ticket goes to either So or Ding Liren. The Chess World Cup 2017 started as a 128-player single-elimination chess tournament in Tbilisi, Georgia. The top two finishers in the tournament will qualify for the Candidates tournament for the World Chess Championship 2018.
