Armenian, Russian Foreign Ministers discuss Karabakh agreement

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian and Russian Foreign Ministers Ara Aivazian and Sergei Lavrov discussed the realization of agreements on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict over the phone on Friday, February 5, the press service of the Armenian Foreign Ministry reports.

Aivazian and Lavrov weighed in on the process of the full implementation of the provisions of the November 9 trilateral statement. The Armenian Foreign policy chief stressed the importance of solving the humanitarian situation in Karabakh.

The two also discussed agreements reached at a summit of the leaders of Armenia, Russia and Azerbaijan and the meeting of the Deputy Prime Ministers of the three countries in January, the press service added.

According to the Armenian side, the Foreign Ministers discussed in detail the issues of regional security and stability. They also exchanged views on issues of bilateral and multilateral cooperation. In this context, the parties touched upon the schedule of consultations between the foreign ministries of the two countries.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Russian and Azerbaijani Presidents Vladimir Putin and Ilham Aliyev on November 9 signed a statement to end the war in Karabakh after almost 45 days. Under the deal, the Armenian side has returned all the seven regions surrounding Nagorno-Karabakh, having lost a part of Karabakh itself in hostilities.
