Armenian lifter Varazdat Lalayan named world champion

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia’s Varazdat Lalayan won gold in the super heavyweight category of the World Weightlifting Championships in Bahrain, becoming the world champion for the first time.

Lalayan, 25, won a small gold medal in the snatch and a small bronze medal in the clean and jerk.

Gor Minasyan, an Armenian lifter representing Bahrain and competing in the same weight category, won a small silver medal in the snatch event after lifting 210 kg above his head.
