Мinister: no decision yet on 2029 youth tournament

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia's Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan said FIFA has not yet made a final decision on the joint bid by Armenia and Georgia to host the 2029 FIFA U-20 World Cup.

She made the statement in response to a question about whether the newly renovated stadium in Kapan could host matches during the tournament, as reported by 1lurer.am .

The minister emphasized that the Armenian government has already taken necessary steps to align with FIFA’s requirements in hopes of securing a favorable decision.

“Of course, we would be very pleased if the stadium in Kapan is in proper condition by 2029. I want to remind everyone that this is a joint bid with Georgia, and from a logistical standpoint, host cities must be selected to enable simultaneous matches in both countries.

Given that Kapan has flight access, nothing can be ruled out. Let’s focus on doing our part — the rest will come down to organizational matters,” she said.
