Armenian ambo team secures 12 medals in Yerevan![]() April 13, 2026 - 14:54 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The Armenian national sambo team won 1 gold and 11 bronze medals at the World Cup stage held in Yerevan, the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sportс reported. Among Armenian athletes, Karen Sargsyan (58 kg, sport sambo) claimed the championship title. Bronze medals were won by Davit Hovsepyan (58 kg, sport sambo), Narek Goginyan and Zaven Arzumanyan (both 58 kg), Tatul Avagyan (88 kg), and Mkhitar Temuryan (98+ kg, combat sambo). In women’s sport sambo, third-place finishes were recorded by Anna Ayvazyan (50 kg), Syuzanna Manukyan (72 kg), and Anna Mkrtchyan (80+ kg). In women’s combat sambo, bronze medals were claimed by Mariam Stepanyan (54 kg), Srbuhi Hovakimyan (59 kg), and Ekaterina Zhigalova (80 kg). More than 500 athletes from 22 countries took part in this stage of the Sambo World Cup. The tournament has been held in Yerevan for the third consecutive year, following previous editions in 2024 and 2025. Armenia’s Narek Manasyan (92kg) won Armenia’s second silver medal at the European Boxing Championships 2024 on April 28. Armenian gymnast, Olympic bronze medalist Artur Davtyan has reached the finals of the World Cup. Gor Manvelyan has denied reports alleging that he has expressed a desire to one day play for the French national team.
