Aliyev: there are favorable conditions for Karabakh settlement

PanARMENIAN.Net - Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev voiced an opinion that adoption of the basic principles on the Nagorno Karabakh settlement will give an opportunity for a “fair resolution of the conflict.”

“Negotiations are under way and I am hopeful that they will produce results. Our hope for a peaceful resolution grew after the statement by Presidents of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chair countries, who signaled inadmissibility of the current status quo,” Aliyev said in Baku.

He said that another important provision of the statement is the reference to the Helsinki Final act, which, according to him, “contains no contradictions between the principle of territorial integrity and the right of nations to self-determination, with both to be reflected in a final agreement.”

“Azerbaijan is a supporter of peaceful resolution and I think that the settlement package under discussion is the last chance,” Aliyev said, Trend News reported.
