Aliyev: there are favorable conditions for Karabakh settlement![]() June 11, 2011 - 11:33 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev voiced an opinion that adoption of the basic principles on the Nagorno Karabakh settlement will give an opportunity for a “fair resolution of the conflict.” “Negotiations are under way and I am hopeful that they will produce results. Our hope for a peaceful resolution grew after the statement by Presidents of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chair countries, who signaled inadmissibility of the current status quo,” Aliyev said in Baku. He said that another important provision of the statement is the reference to the Helsinki Final act, which, according to him, “contains no contradictions between the principle of territorial integrity and the right of nations to self-determination, with both to be reflected in a final agreement.” “Azerbaijan is a supporter of peaceful resolution and I think that the settlement package under discussion is the last chance,” Aliyev said, Trend News reported. Azerbaijani authorities report that they have already resettled 3,000 people in the Nagorno-Karabakh town of Stepanakert. On June 10, Azerbaijani President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev will leave for Turkey on a working visit. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev arrived in Moscow on April 22 to hold talks with Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin. Authorities said a total of 192 Azerbaijani troops were killed and 511 were wounded during Azerbaijan’s offensive. Partner news |
