Azerbaijani border guard dies in shooting at border with Iran

PanARMENIAN.Net - An Azerbaijani border guard died as a result of shooting at the Azerbaijan-Iran border on July 3, Trend News reported.

According to Azerbaijani state border service, armed persons attempted to violate the border from the Islamic Republic of Iran. As a result of the incident, the Squad Head Lieutenant Rufat Guliyev was fatally wounded and died while being evacuated to the border post.

The report says the assailants escaped to Iran. Investigation is underway.
