The action was timed to the World Week for Captive Dolphines. Center for Bird Lovers NGO chairman Silva Adamyan urged Armenia to follow the suit of countries protesting against holding dolphins in captivity. Ms. Adamyan was deeply dissatisfied with conditions the sea animals are kept in. Earlier, the organization brought an action against dolphinarium authorities who refused to allow monitoring of dolphins’ health conditions. Dolphinarium director Lilit Sahakyan stressed that living conditions of the sea animals fully meet the standards, however producing no documents to back up her statement. Dophin trainers assured those gathered that the animals are in perfect health and are provided with as much clean water as necessary. Among those present was also Hamlet Avoyan who approved dolphinarium construction, happy to finally see Komitas Park safe and beautified.
