Martirosyan considers Canada for fight with Angulo

PanARMENIAN.Net - On Thursday, July 21, the WBC ordered a final elimination bout between Vanes Martirosyan of U.S. and Alfredo Angulo of Mexico to decide the next mandatory challenger for WBC junior middleweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, Boxingscene reports (http://www.boxingscene.com).

Martirosyan has been clamoring for a big fight for over a year. The Armenian was very excited when he heard the news of the elimination bout. "This is what I have been asking for. Angulo is a great fighter. I know my team will work hard to make this fight happen," said Martirosyan.

There could be logistical problems as Angulo currently doesn't have a valid visa to enter the United States. Martirosyan doesn't think that will be a problem. "I have a lot of Mexican fans and I love Mexican people. I think the Mexican fans are great. If the deal is right we can look at going down there but there are a lot of options. Vic (Darchinyan) is going to fight in Armenia. Maybe Angulo and I could be on that card or we can look at a neutral country like Canada."

Martirosyan finished up by saying that he is thrilled with the decision by the WBC. He is very confident that the fight will be put together. "Angulo is a warrior. I am sure he will want the fight. Especially since the winner will be in position to fight Canelo. This is what boxing is supposed to be, the best fighting the best."
