Buenos Aires to host 2020 Olympics election Sept 7, 2013

PanARMENIAN.Net - The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has officially announced the six cities that will battle it out for the rights to host the 2020 Olympic Games.

With all six cities previously announcing their intentions to apply to host the Games of the XXXII Olympiad in 2020, there were no surprises on the list.

The cities, in alphabetical order, are Baku (Azerbaijan), Doha (Qatar), Istanbul (Turkey), Madrid (Spain), Rome (Italy) and Tokyo (Japan), making a full house for IOC evaluation board.

The six applicant cities will now proceed to Phase 1 of the IOC’s two-step procedure, which will lead to the election of the 2020 host city in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on 7 September 2013. The next important date for applicants will be the IOC information seminar on 3-4 November 2011 in Lausanne, Sports Features Communications reported.
