World Championships: Armenian wrestlers to fight in preliminary stage

PanARMENIAN.Net - On September 13, Greco-Roman fights of the second tournament day of the World Wrestling Championships will take place in Istanbul, Turkey.

Wrestlers in weight categories 60kg, 84kg and 120kg will enter the competition.

Again, all Armenian representatives will begin performances in the preliminary stage. Vahan Jugharyan (60kg) will fight against Dritano Hajrizi (Slovenia). Arthur Shahinyan (84kg) will rival Amer Hrustanovic (Austria).

The worst lot fell to Yuri Patrikeev (120kg), multiple European champion, world silver and bronze medalist and Olympics bronze winner. He will fight against Heiki Nabi (Estonia).

Olympic gold winner and current world champion Michael Lopez (Cuba), who beat Patrikeev in the World Cup finals in 2010 in Moscow, will also perform in the same subgroup.

On the first day of the championship Armenian athletes failed to win medals and ensure participation in 2012 Olympic Games.
