Ahmadinejad: Iran willing to collaborate with West

PanARMENIAN.Net - Ahmadinejad accused America of provoking enmity between two countries.

In a wide-ranging interview Thursday evening with The Associated Press, Ahmadinejad said that Iran is willing to collaborate with West, however does not come across understanding from them. Ahmadinejad said he never received a reply to a personal letter he sent to Obama.

He emphasized that it isn't too late for President Barack Obama to carry out his election pledge to improve ties with Iran and that this is not a chance that has been completely lost. According to him, US and Iran could fruitfully collaborate, and resume talks on Tehran’s nuclear issue. Ahmadinejad insisted Iran's nuclear program is peaceful and repeated an offer to meet with world powers to discuss nuclear issues. But he also warned that "the nuclear issue has been manipulated and turned into a political issue."

Ahmadinejad positively assessed Obama’s perspectives in the coming elections.
