Armenian Genocide bill introduced in French Senate

PanARMENIAN.Net - French Senator Philippe Kaltenbach introduced a bill envisaging criminalization of denial of the Armenian Genocide in the Senate.

As Kaltenbach noted in his blog post, President Nicolas Sarkozy and socialist party’s 2012 presidential candidate Francois Hollande promised to support the initiative.

The draft law envisages up to 5 years of imprisonment and Euro 45 thousand fine for Armenian Genocide denial.

The bill was adopted by the French National Assembly on October 12, 2006.
