Ara Papian: negative trends were observed in Armenia in 2010

PanARMENIAN.Net - Historian, diplomat, Head of Modus Vivendi Center Ara Papian said that he can’t and will not single out any certain event for the year 2010.

“Rather I would outline a very negative trend in the policy of Armenia, which can be defined as wholesale surrender of the Armenian national interests,” Papian told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter.

According to him, the year began and went on under the political fog of discussions on the Armenian-Turkish protocols.

Papian went on saying: “Now it is clear that all expectations were based on dire political miscalculations. As a result, currently we have Turkish full range engagement in our region, which brings us closer to a war. Who will be responsible for such an outcome?”

He noted that the final upshot of the passing year were the treacherous amendments in the Laws on Education and Language.

“Instead of improving the entire situation in the field of education, our Parliament chose the easiest way, dealing with a very complex issue – they just created privileged conditions for a handful of people. This is a typical policy of colonialism. I think that after all this, the term “National” must be removed from the title of our Assembly. For the year 2011 I can not predict any drastic changes. I think the situation will remain on the sloppy path of gradual decline,” concluded Papian.
