Coalition declaration advantageous only for ANC, expert saysMarch 1, 2011 - 13:41 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Expert for political and electoral technologies Armen Badalyan said that the recently signed coalition statement has polarized the Armenian political field between the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) and opposition Armenian National Congress (ANC). “The political field has become bicolor – black and white,” Badalyan told a press conference in Yerevan. He added that Prosperous Armenia (PA), ARF Dashnaktsutyun and indirectly RPA have suffered from the declaration, while it has been advantageous only for ANC. According to Badalyan, as a result of the declaration, PA is no longer conceived as an alternative to RPA. Besides, it will lead to disappointment of lower chains of PA and people’s withdrawal from the party. Analyst Anush Sedrakyan disagreed with this opinion, saying that PA is a part of the ruling power and, consequently, could not become an alternative to RPA. On February 17, the parties to the Political Coalition – the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), Prosperous Armenia party (PA) and Orinats Yerkir party (OY) - signed the Declaration of the Political Coalition. On behalf of the Republican Party it was signed by RA President, Chairman of the Party Serzh Sargsyan, on behalf of Prosperous Armenia - by Chairman of the Party Gagik Tsarukian, and on behalf of Orinats Yerkir - by Chairman of the Party Arthur Baghdassarian.
