New Times party leader calls himself oppositional “hawk”March 14, 2011 - 13:15 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The leader of New Times opposition party Aram Karapetyan called himself the oppositional “hawk”, while likening Armenian National Congress leader to a “dove.” Currently, the authorities are attempting to weaken the position of hawks, he noted, citing yesterday’s arrest of former European champion, boxer Samson Khachatryan who slammed the authorities in his media address, as an example. According to Karapetyan, the oppositional hawks better reflect current moods in the Armenian society. “Armenian opposition must strive to increase the number of allies, rather than try finding an opportune political moment. On the other hand, support of the vast masses will enable negotiations with the authorities,” he noted. The New Times leader stressed the necessity of a revolution in Armenia, although a bloodless one. He did not rule out the possibility of riots in the country in case of forged elections. In the opposite case, Armenian opposition will gain the majority in the parliament, he said.
