ARMENIAN AND GEORGIAN LEADERS FOR CREATING FAVORABLE ATMOSPHERE FOR SOLVING CONFLICTS IN REGIONMarch 12, 2004 - 23:43 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia and Georgia have achieved a high level of relations, which are based on the centuries-old friendship between the Armenian and Georgian peoples, says a joint statement by leaders of both states Robert Kocharian and Mikhail Saakashvili, made in Yerevan. The Presidents reiterated their determination to continue to strengthen the friendly relations and to develop mutually beneficial cooperation between Armenia and Georgia. The statement also notes the need to enhance the efficiency of bilateral and multilateral cooperation and coordinate the efforts to resist such contemporary challenges and threats, as international terrorism, organized crime, illegal trade in arms and drugs. The parties noted that via deepening comprehensive regional cooperation and making interests of the countries of the region closer, one can create favorable atmosphere for solving conflicts in the region. The leaders of Armenia and Georgia reiterated once again their commitment to the principle of non-interference with each other's domestic affairs, mutual respect of sovereignty, territorial integrity and inviolability of borders. The Armenian side expressed confidence that the reforms being held in Georgia, as well as the coming parliamentary elections are aimed at strengthening the democracy and stability and ensuring economic development of Georgia, which is not only in Georgia's interests, but also in the interests of Armenia and the region as a whole. Mikhail Saakashvili invited Robert Kocharian to pay an official visit to Georgia at any time convenient to him.
