Armenia to host 2012 European Junior Judo Championships

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia's judo teams participated in various international tournaments in 2010. President of the RA Judo Federation Alexan Avetisyan is satisfied with the performance of Armenian sportsmen.

“In March Armen Nazaryan won Judo World Cup, while Grigor Ivanyan, Gor Harutyunyan and Arthur Kroyan won medals at the European Youth Championships. Recently, David Kazaryan won bronze medal at Singapore Olympic Games,” said Avetisyan.

Armenian sportsmen are getting prepared for the World Championships due September 9-13 in Tokyo (Japan). Besides, the European Youth Championships will kick off on September 15 in Sofia (Bulgaria).

Armenian judoists will also participate in the World Youth Championships in Morocco.

“Our Federation has gained the right to conduct 2012 European Junior Judo Championships in June in Yerevan, prior to which a seminar of coaches and judges will be held in May 2012 with participation of judo leading specialists,” said Avetisyan.
