Levon Julfalakyan: any sportsman should be patriot

PanARMENIAN.Net - Chief Coach of Armenia’s Greco-Roman wrestling team Levon Julfalakyan said any sportsman should be a patriot.

“If coaches educate their sportsmen relevantly, they understand that their victories belong to the entire nation. A sportsman can never succeed without these features,” Julfalakyan told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter.

Julfalakyan added that during trainings he discusses not only tactical matters with wrestlers, but also explains what it means to represent a country. “The most important thing is that our sportsmen conceive my demands and we return with medals from any tournament,” the Olympic champion said.

Julfalakyan has celebrated numerous victories both as a sportsman and coach. He admitted that though he was a member of the USSR team, he was proud of being Armenian and representing his country.

“I am pleased with the fact that I have contributed to Armenia’s sports achievements. Now I am happy to witness victories of my sportsmen,” he said.

Julfalakyan congratulated the Armenian people on Republic Day, wishing peace, happiness and optimism.
