Turkey can begin diplomatic relations with Yerevan, yet border won't be opened unless there's improvement in Karabakh conflict

PanARMENIAN.Net - The Turkish Parliament can ratify the protocols quickly, there is no harm for his, Aybars Gorgulu, an expert at Sabanci University and Assistant Program Director of TESEV Foreign Policy Program told PanARMENIAN.Net reporter.

"Turkey can even begin diplomatic relations after the signing and ratification of the protocols, but the real question is when the borders will be opened. I don't think that the border will be opened unless there is some improvement in Karabakh conflict. Armenian officials do not link these two processes but all Turkish officials have declared many times that Turkey will not open the borders without any amelioration in the Karabakh stalemate. Now it's the up to Russia, USA and of course to the Minsk Group to convince both Azerbaijan and Armenia to have a deal on the principles of Madrid Proposals. That's why the signature of the protocols will probably accelerate the NKR conflict resolution talks," the expert concluded.
