FAAE: the day is near when Hague court will confirm Karabakh independenceJuly 23, 2010 - 15:37 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The Forum of Armenian Associations of Europe (FAAE) welcomes UN International Court of Justice ruling on Kosovo independence. As FAAE stated, the ruling can serve as a guide for all the countries declaring independence in the same circumstances as Kosovo. “In this context, we’d like to call attention to Artsakh, who gained independence as a result of USSR collapse and was never a part of independent Azerbaijan,” FAAE told PanARMENIAN.Net According to FAAE chairman Ashot Grigoryan , UN court ruling is a serious signal to Ilham Aliyev, who recently stated that Armenians can’t have two states at once. “The day is near when superpowers will recognize Karabakh’s independence, with Hague court confirming the fact,” he stressed urging Armenian lobby worldwide to continue struggle in this direction. On 22 July, the International Court of Justice issued an advisory opinion on Kosovo's declaration of independence. The ICJ ruled that a declaration of independence does not violate any UN resolution or international law.
