Roly Clark: around 4000 ha cleared of mines in Karabakh over past 10 years

PanARMENIAN.Net - NKR National Assembly speaker Ashot Ghulyan met in Stepanakert with Mr. Roly Clark, Halo Trust British humanitarian mine clearance program manager in Nagorno Karabakh to discuss the mission’s achievements and future plans.

According to Mr. Clark, around 4000 ha was cleared in Karabakh over the past 10 years and the number of people blown up by mines has considerably reduced.

However, he noted, financial problems prevent from accomplishing clearance works in shorter terms.

For his part, speaker Ghulyan attached importance to the Halo Trust's activity aimed to ensure security of Karabakh people and said that the republic's authorities will continue assisting implementation of the program.
