Azerbaijan to make public neighbor countries’ military doctrines

PanARMENIAN.Net - Military doctrines of six Caucasian countries - Russia, Georgia, Armenia, Turkey, Azerbaijan and Iran – will be translated into Azerbaijani, Russian and possibly English and then made public to “clearly show whether they can constitute a threat to Azerbaijan’s national security.”

“In 2010, Azerbaijan adopted its military doctrine, where Armenia is ranked as a potential enemy,” said Yashar Jafarli, the head of Officers in Reserve NGO.

He noted that the organization’s experts found the military doctrine of Russia threatening not only neighbor state but also its own citizens, as it envisages use of armed forces against Russian citizens accused of terrorism.

“There is no military doctrine in Iran. It’s substituted by a number of laws and decrees,” Jafarli said.

Upon completion of the research, the results will be discussed in Baku with experts from the six countries. Conduction of an international conference is also possible.
