Serzh Sargsyan: Armenian peacemakers in Kosovo took every effort to protect Serbian churches

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, currently on official visit to Serbia, met with the Patriarch Irinej of Serbia.

At the meeting, the parties emphasized the importance of preserving and strengthening warm relations between the Armenian Apostolic and Serbian Orthodox Churches.

Stressing the role of the church in the history of the Armenian nation, President Sargsyan noted that even at present the church is irreplaceable in the lives of the Armenians and Serbs. As the President stated, Armenian peacemakers in Kosovo took every effort to protect Serbian churches.

A meeting with the representatives of the Armenian community was on presidential visit agenda. Further, President Sargsyan laid a wreath at the monument to Serbian pilots who perished in Spitak earthquake of 1988, presidential press service reported.
