Procedure of presenting documents of candidates to RA CEC launched

PanARMENIAN.Net - The procedure of presenting documents of candidates to the RA CEC (Central Electoral Commission) for parliamentary elections on proportional and majority electoral systems launched in Armenia February 26. The Armenian CEC will accept documents till 6:00 pm of March 3. CEC Press Secretary Tsovinar Khacahtryan said the commission has not received documents on party lists the first day. Instead several candidates presented documents on majority system to take part in election in some electoral districts. And at the same time the CEC representative could not say the number of citizens who had presented necessary documents, noticing that candidates balloting on majority system of elections, present their documents to district electoral commission, IA Regnum reports.



Parties and blocks, as well as candidates on majority electoral system must present their documents to the Armenian CEC and district commissions for participating in the May 12, 2007 parliamentary elections till 6:00 pm of March 3. In party lists the number of women must be at least 15 percent of candidates of the whole party list. Parties and blocks, as well as initiative groups of at least 50 citizens have the right to nominate somebody's candidature in majority districts. Necessary documents for registration of parties and blocks, as well as candidates on majority system must be presented to the CEC of Armenia till March 28. Registration of party lists and candidates will last from April 2 till 7. Officially the electoral campaign will launch April 8 and will last till May 10. Parliamentary elections in Armenia will be held on May 12 from 8:00 am till 8:00 pm.
