Russia: supreme court annulled verdict of "not guilty" to murderer of Armenian youth

PanARMENIAN.Net - The supreme court has cancelled the verdict of "not guilty" to the murderer of Armenian youth Artur Sardaryan.

The Sardaryans' lawyers and the prosecutor said the norms of the penal code were violated in the process. Their appeal was allowed. Lawyer Simon Tsaturyan said the case will be reconsidered by the Moscow circuit court, Echo of Moscow reports.

Artur Sardaryan, 19, was killed May 25, 2006 in a Moscow-Pushkino train near Klyazma station. Two skinheads assaulted him shouting "Long live Russia" and plunged a knife into his chest for some 6 times.

In May 2007, the jury with 10 against 2 votes, found the murderer not guilty despite the evidence of two witnesses, who identified him.
