Turkey again threatens U.S. with countermeasures against Genocide resolution

PanARMENIAN.Net - Turkey will take action in case the Armenian Genocide resolution passes in the U.S. House of Representatives, said Rakib Kilic, the assistant chairman of the Turkish police general directorate's department on smuggling and organized crime.



"We are hopeful that the resolution will be voted down. Otherwise, Turkey will take action," he said, Trend news agency reports.



October 10, with a vote 27 to 21 the U.S. House Committee on Foreign Affairs adopted the Armenian Genocide Resolution, H.Res.106, which was introduced by Representative Adam Schiff January 30, 2007. The vote in the full House has not been scheduled yet. Meanwhile, several Congressmen recalled their signatures under pressure of the Turkish lobby.



Turkey has numerously "warned" the U.S. that adoption of the resolution will damage bilateral relations.
