Lipetsk artist designed model of monument to Armenian Genocide victimsNovember 12, 2007 - 13:28 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Well-known Lipetsk artist, member of the Union of Designers of Russia Nikolay Rogatnev, the author of the monument of Sorrow and Memory dated to the 20th anniversary of the devastating earthquake in Armenia, has designed the model of a monument dedicated to victims of the Armenian Genocide in Ottoman Turkey. The artist implemented the primary Armenian symbols: grieving Mother Armenia who bends over the Cross on the top of Ararat. "It would be a good idea to set the monument not only in Russia but also in other states as a reminder that genocide and fascism must be prevented," Rogatnev said. "We must not forget the terrible tragedy of our fraternal nation. A monument to the victims of those terrible events should be inaugurated in Russia which officially recognized the Armenian Genocide as far back as 1995," said co-author Valentin Bayukansky, reported Yerkramas, the newspaper of Armenians of Russia.
