Azeri MPs don't mind meeting Armenian counterpartsFebruary 11, 2008 - 13:22 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Azeri MPs do not have anything against a joint PACE conference with Armenian counterparts, head of the Azerbaijani delegation to PACE Samed Seyidov said. "We do not mind a meeting with Armenian colleagues, as it was proposed by Lord Russell-Johnston. On the contrary, we do welcome the initiative. However, the talks should focus on resolution of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict but not on improvement of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan," Mr Seyidov said, ANS-PRESS reports. Earlier, chairs of the Azeri parliamentary committees declined Lord Russell-Johnston's proposal. Azerbaijani authorities report that they have already resettled 3,000 people in the Nagorno-Karabakh town of Stepanakert. On June 10, Azerbaijani President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev will leave for Turkey on a working visit. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev arrived in Moscow on April 22 to hold talks with Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin. Authorities said a total of 192 Azerbaijani troops were killed and 511 were wounded during Azerbaijan’s offensive. Partner news |
