Progress possible in Armenian-Turkish relations, RA President saysSeptember 4, 2008 - 17:57 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan said that progress is possible in the Armenian-Turkish relations if the sides manifest political will and consistency. "Inviting my Turkish counterpart to Armenia, I acted according to my convictions that directs contacts are the only effective way to normalize relations," he said at a meeting with Armenian top diplomats. "Of course, I have some political expectations. We should remember the past and face the future, without setting preconditions," the President said. He also stressed the importance of putting into operation the Gyumri-Kars line. "With facts in hand, we should prove that several kilometers of the railroad will contribute to regional cooperation," Sargsyan said. ![]() ![]() Azerbaijani authorities report that they have already resettled 3,000 people in the Nagorno-Karabakh town of Stepanakert.
