Kosachev: I don't think Armenia will be debarred from voting in PACE

PanARMENIAN.Net - The Russian delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) hopes that Armenia will not be debarred from voting in the organization.

"I do not think that it will come to sanctions. As far as I know, much has changed since the draft resolution on debarring Armenia from voting was introduced," said Konstantin Kosachev, head of the Russian State Duma international committee.

"Anyway, the Russian delegation will vote against imposition of sanctions on Armenia," he added

During a meeting on December 17, 2008, the PACE monitoring committee concluded that Armenia failed to meet the requirements and offered to debar Armenia from voting during the January session.

This week, PACE rapporteurs John Prescott and Georges Colombier arrived in Armenia to study the situation.
