They lit candles to commemorate innocent victims of Genocide.On April 24, Armenians all over the world commemorated 915-23 Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Empire. This was the day when mass arrests began in Constantinople, leading to deportation and murder of top-class intellectuals, religious and political figures. Within a couple of weeks, around 800 outstanding Armenians were arrested in the town. In 1915-1923, 1.5 million of Armenians living on their historical homeland were murdered. 1,5 million Armenians were massacred and half a million dispersed throughout the world. The Armenian Genocide was acknowledged by Russia, France, Canadian House of Commons, Lebanon, Uruguay, Cyprus, Argentina, Greece, Belgium, Sweden, Slovakia, Netherlands' House of Representatives, Switzerland National Council, Vatican, Lower chamber of Italy, Germany, Lithuania, Polish Seim and 42 US states.
