Moscow offers Georgia to unblock Upper Lars checkpointMay 26, 2009 - 14:55 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs doesn't mind consultations with Russia on opening Upper Lars checkpoint at the Georgian-Russian border. On May 25, Swiss Embassy in Tbilisi conveyed Russia's proposal to open the checkpoint which was blocked by Russia two years ago. "Proceeding from interests of the Georgian and Russian nations, we are ready to consider this issue," said Shota Gvineria, official representative of the Georgia MFA Earlier, Armenia also requested opening of Upper Lars checkpoint. ![]() ![]() Azerbaijani authorities report that they have already resettled 3,000 people in the Nagorno-Karabakh town of Stepanakert. On June 10, Azerbaijani President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev will leave for Turkey on a working visit.
