Turkey intends to prove its important role in the region to EU

PanARMENIAN.Net - With its actions Turkey means to prove itself to be the only state capable of establishing peace in Caucasus, MGIMO Caucasus Study Center Deputy Director Vladimir Zakharov told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter. According to him, Turkey assumed this position even since last year's August war. "Right after August events Ankara came forth with a suggestion to create security and stability platform in Caucasus, meaning to prove Turkey was the first state to initiate peace process, though it's common knowledge French President Nicolas Sarkozy was the main mediator," the expert said.



He also noted that with its actions Turkey means to prove itself to be the only state capable of establishing peace in Caucasus, with no issue to be resolved without its participation.



Europe and Turkey are working towards "Peace roads" project realization. A highway network will go through Armenia, Azerbaijan and Turkey to Europe.
