The first difficulty that Armenia encountered in the post crisis period is the insufficiently diversified economy, according to Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan. “Reacting on crisis, Armenia focused on three directions: diversification, improvement of infrastructure and business environment,” the PM said in an interview with CNN. “Further we hope to boost business environment and overcome consequences of crisis by means of consecutive efforts directed at implementation of reforms,” he said.

Dr. Megerditch Tarakdjian, of Armenian descent, was born in Syria and has been living in Montreal since 1982. At a very young age he developed a passion for painting and went on to study at the Saryan Academy of Arts in Aleppo, Syria. However, his parents did not believe he could earn a living as an artist and persuaded him to instead pursue a career in science.

The opposition Armenian National Congress (ANC) openly announced the start of political dialogue with the authorities during the May 31 rally in Liberty Square. The ANC has already formed the delegation to negotiate with the country’s leadership, mentioning snap elections and the main issue on the agenda. The authorities, on the contrary, insist that they are planning to discuss social and economic problems but by no means any possibility of extraordinary elections.

Almost all museums in Yerevan lack funds and attention
There are over 30 museums in Yerevan, most of them being under guardianship of the Armenian Ministry of Culture and National Academy of Sciences and almost all of them lacking funds and attention. Low salaries force employees quit.
