Armenia names squad for Olympic Greco-Roman qualifier

PanARMENIAN.Net - Chief coach of Armenian freestyle wrestling team Araik Bagdadyan named the squad for the first rating tournament, Olympic Greco-Roman qualifier to be held in Sofia from April 20-22.

In conversation with a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter, Mr. Bagdadyan said the squad consists of Narek Sanoyan (60kg), David Safaryan (66 kg), Suren Markosyan (74kg), Hajimurad Nurmagometov (84 kg), Edgar Yenokyan (96 kg) and Ruslan Basiyev (120kg).

Armenian wrestlers are currently conducting team practice session in Vladikavkaz with the team of North Ossetia.

“All the wreslers are in good shape. We are happy that Edgar Yenokyan managed to recover form the injury and will participate in the tournament. We will be back in Armenia on March 31 and will hold the last team practice session in Yerevan,” Bagdadyan said.

Mihran Jaburyan (55 kg) is the only freestyle wrestler to represent Armenia at the Olympic Games.

The second rating tournament is due from April 27-29 in China, and the last one in Helsinki from May 4-6.
