IT'S TIME FOR US AND EUROPE TO MAKE CONTRIBUTION TO KARABAKH CONFLICT SETTLEMENT, HEAD OF NATO COMMITTEE IN US SENATE CONSIDERS

PanARMENIAN.Net - It high time for Washington and Brussels to make contribution to the settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh and some other conflicts, head of the Project of Transitional Democracies, chairman of NATO Committee in US Senate Bruce Jackson stated after the meeting with Nagorno Karabakh President Arkadi Ghukasian. In Jackson's words, the principal goal of the mission headed by him is to "secure more active participation of international community in the process of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement". In this view he noted the significance of including the South Caucasian states in "Enlarged Europe: New Neighbors" program as well as NATO's interest in establishment of stability and democracy in the region as stated during the Istanbul summit. "Human potential tragically decreases because of the conflicts in Pridnestrovye, South Osetia, Abkhazia and Nagorno Karabakh, thus impeding the development of economy and the process of integration into the European family. Besides, the growing generation lacks the possibility of receiving essential education" Jackson said. "We are going to bring to the notice of the US and European leaders the importance of the Karabakh problem, which needs settling", he stated.
