TURKEY DISCONTENT WITH RF DUMA STATEMENT ON GENOCIDE

PanARMENIAN.Net - Turkey expressed discontent with the statement by the Russian State Duma issued on the occasion of the 90-the anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, Armenpress news agency reported. The Turkish Foreign Ministry condemned the statement by the Russian parliamentarians and called the appeal to acknowledge this tragic fact "groundless". The Turkish MFA statement says in part, "Turkey is perplexed at such a position. The Russian State Duma distorting the events of the First World War tries to interpret them as genocide. This statement does not accord with the Turkey-Russia relationships and can hamper the efforts of the international community for the establishment of peace and stability in the region as well as the development of friendly relations."
