Current leader to win elections even if set up against Tsarukyan - expert

PanARMENIAN.Net - 35-40% of Armenian society don’t follow election-related developments or are altogether indifferent to oncoming presidential race; half of the remaining 60% are expected to vote for current authorities, with only 5% to determine the outcome of elections.

According to Sociometer Center director Aharon Adibekyan, the votes of the supporters of current authorities are shared between the ruling Republican Party of Armenia, Orinats Yerkir and Prosperous Armenia party.

“Even if Serzh Sargsyan and Gagik Tsarukyan were the only presidential candidates at upcoming elections, the victory would go to the former, RPA being a far more influential political force,” the expert said.

The expert further expressed skepticism over the chances of opposition candidates, predicting better results should the opposition unite around Prosperous Armenia.
