The body of the officer was recovered from the Tandzik reservoir in the neutral zone on the border with Nakhijevan. Harutyunyan, who served in one of the military units located in the Vayots Dzor province of Armenia, went missing on May 1. Active search had been instigated in the area since then as the officer was presumed drowned in the reservoir. No details as to the causes and other circumstances of the death have yet been reported, with investigation ongoing.
