Final decision on Karabakh settlement up to conflicting parties: EU rep.

PanARMENIAN.Net - The Nagorno Karabakh conflict can be resolved with both parties participating in the process, Azerbaijani media cited the EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus as saying Thursday, March 17.

“The international community can make proposals to resolve the conflict, but the final decision is up to the parties to the conflict,” Herbert Salber said. “Negotiations continuing for over 20 years, a number of solutions have been proposed, with the sides set to make a choice.”

The EU, which is not directly involved in the conflict resolution, has repeatedly stated that the status quo is unacceptable. It also supports diplomatic settlement of the conflict in the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairmanship.
