Yerevan and Baku close to agreement on Karabakh problem

PanARMENIAN.Net - OSCE MG American Co-Chair Matthew Bryza hopes after parliamentary elections in Armenia a new impulse will occur in the process of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement, which will be visible. "But now that impulse is not quite visible, because the talks are going very quiet till the elections," he stressed. He also expressed hope after parliamentary elections in Armenia there will be a concrete solution on Karabakh issue. "I am a modest co-chair, mediator. I am not responsible for decision. Only presidents can take such a responsibility," stated Matthew Bryza.



Commenting on the point of OSCE MG's latest statement, which says that the presidents of conflicting countries must prepare their societies for compromise, the American mediator said, "As you know, there exist general principles offered by co-chairs. These principles are compromises. As co-chairs, we think that it gives the best chance to solve the problem. But since it is a compromise, you should find a common language. I think, now the two sides are close to a compromise. But they have not reached the end of that way, some technical issues remain, which also need to be agreed," 'Trend' reports.
