VivaCell-MTS becomes member of Institute of Internal Auditors - Armenia

PanARMENIAN.Net - The board members of the Institute of Internal Auditors-Armenia met with VivaCell-MTS General Manager and employers at VivaCell-MTS headquarters.

At the meeting, the President of IIA-Armenia, Chief Audit Executive of the Central Bank of Armenia Ara Chalabyan and VivaCell-MTS General Manager Ralph Yirikian announced about VivaCell-MTS membership in the Institute of Internal Auditors-Armenia.

“It is difficult to overestimate the importance of internal audit in ensuring effective and transparent business administration,” Yirikian said. “To put it in medical terms, internal audit is the early detection and prevention of problems. It is aimed at revealing risks at different levels as well as incompliance to internal regulations and procedures and to the Armenian legislation.”

Chalabyan, in turn, spoke about the importance of the initiatives of the IIA in boosting the corporate governance culture in Armenia and presented to VivaCell-MTS employees the achievements of the Central Bank of Armenia in the sphere of internal audit as well as the mission and objectives of the Institute of Internal Auditors-Armenia as a non-governmental organization working on voluntary basis.

It was also announced that the second international conference of the IIA-Armenia under the topic “How to drive changes” will take place on September 15-16, 2016 in Yerevan. Yirikian, the Chairman of the IIA’s Global Board Angela Witzany and Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Armenia Vakhtang Abrahamyan will deliver opening speeches.

The meeting was followed by a Q/A session with Chalabyan, who stressed the importance of presenting Armenia in international professional platforms as a country with innovative solutions in the sector of governance.

Institute of Internal Auditors-Armenia was founded in 2013. Currently, it has 165 members from 57 organizations (including 5 VivaCell-MTS employees). IIA-Armenia is a full member of the Institute of Internal Auditors-Global that unites 105 affiliates all over the world. In the CIS, Russia and Ukraine are IIA-Global affiliates too.
