Most Azeris think there will be no war in Karabakh

PanARMENIAN.Net - Azeri political scientist Rasim Musabekov has published the outcomes of a survey held among 1000 people in 15 regions and 12 town of Azerbaijan in December 2006.



12,7% of Azerbaijani citizens think that war in Nagorno Karabakh will be resumed. 46,7% suppose that "neither war no peace" situation will be maintained. 38,4% await progress in the Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement.



59,4% sweep aside any idea of compromise. 11,5% spoke out for "granting a cultural autonomy and local self-government system" to Nagorno Karabakh. 9,5% think that Karabakh may be granted autonomy similar to Nakhichevan's one. 11,1% consider that the status of "the self-proclaimed republic should be determined through a referendum under a condition that the Azeri refugees will return to their homes," reports Novosti Azerbaijan.



Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has many times stated that Azerbaijan is ready to fight for Karabakh. In an interview with a Turkish newspaper last October he said "war is never excluded."
