12 houses in Armenia's Shurnukh come under Azerbaijan's control

PanARMENIAN.Net - 12 houses in the border village of Shurnukh in Syunik province are coming under the control of Azerbaijan, Syunik deputy governor Narek Babayan said Monday, December 4, according to Armenpress.

Babayan said the residents of one of the 12 homes have evacuated due to security reasons. The houses are situated below an interstate road running along the state border between the two countries.

According to the deputy governor, the government will provide compensation to all the families that have been left homeless. He said some of the families are currently living with their relatives in the towns of Goris and Kapan in Syunik, while most of them have remained in Shurnukh.

Babayan also revealed that no pasture or arable land in Shurnukh will be coming under Azerbaijan's control.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Russian and Azerbaijani Presidents Vladimir Putin and Ilham Aliyev on November 9 signed a statement to end the war in Karabakh after almost 45 days. Under the deal, the Armenian side has returned all the seven regions surrounding Nagorno-Karabakh, having lost a part of Karabakh itself in hostilities.
