Maurer described Russia as a country with a rich history and one of the key players on the international arena, which can play a role in various crisis situations. "We have a high level of cooperation with Russia in various fields, for example, in Syria and Nagorno-Karabakh,” Maurer said. The ICRC chief is expected to meet with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on Wednesday, June 23. Maurer will also take part in the Moscow Conference on International Security.
