HRD: Hospitals, schools deprived of basic conditions because of Azerbaijan

PanARMENIAN.Net - Hospitals, schools, kindergartens and temporary shelters for displaced persons have been deprived of basic living conditions for over a week now, because Azerbaijan is hindering repairs work for the restoration of gas supply to Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh), Armenian Human Rights Defender Kristinne Grigoryan.

Grigoryan said that more than 100.000 people have been deprived of heating in cold weather conditions, and electricity cuts are happening on a regular basis.

"It is impossible to exercise the right to health care of people, and the right of children to education," the HRD said.

"Moreover, it has been a week since the Azerbaijani military forces have been shooting intensively in the direction of the peaceful villages of Artsakh. All this is aimed at maintaining an atmosphere of fear and terror among the people living in Artsakh, with the ultimate aim of making Armenians leave and cleanse Artsakh from its indigenous Armenian population.

"I strongly condemn the ongoing criminal policy of the Azerbaijani state. I call on international organizations to clearly respond to the situation and to increase the pressure on Azerbaijan to stop this criminal behavior."

Grigoryan noted that human rights are universal, and that her statement has been sent to international organizations and diplomatic missions.
