Members of Congress visit Armenian Genocide memorial in Yerevan

PanARMENIAN.Net - The delegation led by the Chairman of the House Democracy Partnership (HDP) of the U.S. House of Representatives David Price visited the Armenian Genocide memorial in Yerevan on Tuesday, October 18.

The members of Congress were accompanied by the Chair of the Armenian parliament's Standing Committee on Foreign Relations Eduard Aghajanyan and member of the Armenia-U.S Friendship Group Maria Karapetyan.

The guests laid flowers and a wreath at the Eternal Fire honoring the memory of the Armenian Genocide victims, observed a minute of silence to pay tribute to the memory of the Holy Martyrs.

Members of the House of Representatives Diana DeGette, Jim Cooper and Andy Levin are in Armenia too.

The trip comes on the heels of another visit by a congressional delegation led by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, which her office described as the highest-ranking U.S. official visit the country since its independence in 1991. The trip was intended to highlight the United States’ “firm commitment to a peaceful, prosperous and democratic Armenia, and a stable and secure Caucasus region,” the California Democrat said in a statement in September.
