Armenia snatches more medals at European Weightlifting ChampionshipsApril 22, 2023 - 16:50 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian athletes Davit Hovhannisyan and Ara Aghanyan won gold and sliver respectively at the European Weightlifting Championships on Friday, April 21 in Yerevan. They first and second last year in Albania and repeated the feat in the 96-kilogram category in their homeland. Hovhannisyan lifted 170 and won a small gold medal in the snatch event , and became a two-time European champion with a total result of 377 kg. Aghanyan came in the second, finishing 165-199-364. Earlier, Gor Sahakyan earned a gold medal in the 67-kilogram category. Rafik Harutyunyan won bronze medal in 81-kg category, while Andranik Karapetyan became the vice-champion of Europe in the 89-kg category. In the women’s completion, Armenia’s Izabella Yaylyan won a bronze medal in the 55-kilogram category, while her teammate Alexandra Grigoryan ranked 6th. In the 76-kilogram category, Tatev Hakobyan won a silver, while 16-year-old Emma Poghoysn came in the 5th.
