Armenian weightlifters excel at Youth World Championships

PanARMENIAN.Net - Grigor Ghazaryan of Armenia has been crowned youth world champion in the 96 kg weight class at the World Youth Weightlifting Championships in Lima, Peru.

Ghazarayan totaled 330 kg in the combined lift (145 kg in the snatch and 185 kg in the clean and jerk). He also secured gold medals in both individual lifts, according to Armenia’s Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports.

In the snatch, Ghazaryan succeeded in all three attempts, lifting 138 kg, 142 kg, and 145 kg. In the clean and jerk, he completed lifts of 175 kg, 180 kg, and 185 kg.

Harutyun Hovhannisyan, competing in the super heavyweight division, claimed gold in the snatch with successful attempts at 140 kg, 145 kg, and 150 kg. In the clean and jerk, he managed 173 kg.

With a total of 323 kg, Hovhannisyan finished as runner-up in the overall standings at the World Youth Championships.
